Steps To Fix “Location Is Not Available Problem”

1. Change Permission

Right click on drive (e.g., Local Disk C, D, E, F, G H etc., or Hard Drive, External Hard Drive Or USB, etc.) and click “Properties”. Under “Security Tab”, click “Edit”. Under “Permissions”, click on allow check boxes to allow permission to current user (which is for your computer’s name) . If denied boxes are grayed out, then click one of the denied box, then it will not remain grayed out. Now, click allow check boxes to get permissions for current user of your pc or laptop.

2. Take Ownership Of Drive And All Folders Files And Sub-Folders In Drive Or Folder

Run the command prompt as an administrator and past the following command in it:

takeown /F D:\ /r /d y

Then hit “Enter”. If, successful, then the current user will take the ownership of Disk Drive D and all folders and files and subfolders in drive d.

Note: Here “D” is the letter of Disk Drive D which is not accessible. You can also use folder name instead of drive letter if you want to take ownership of specified folder.
