You can add follow button or show follow button to public but you can hide follow button and make visible only to your friends, which is set by default.

1. Go to your facebook profile
2. Click at the right top of your facebook profile icon
3. Click “Settings And Privacy”
4. Now, click “Settings”
5. Click “Privacy” on the left side
6. Click “Public Posts”
7. Under “Who Can Follow Me”, click the button on the right side, to select either “Friends”, which is selected by default, or Public.
